Hotel Review, Paris: Ibis Porte de Bagnolet

Hotel Review, Paris: Ibis Porte de Bagnolet

If you bus from London to Paris from the Victoria Coach Station
the Ibis Porte de Babnolet might be a good hotel stop because it is
a short walk from the Gallieni Coach Station in Paris.

 Porte de Bagnolet  Hotel

During an October 2013 stay in Paris I found the Ibis Hotel at the Gallieni Station to be favorably priced at 80 Euros and spotlessly clean. This hotel makes a great overnight for those arriving by bus from London.

London To Paris Bus

For the Independent traveler the bus might be a good and economical way to go from London to Paris. Four trips a day are offered by National Express buses at a price of 35 Euros a trip. That price beats the train or boat but it does take all of eight or nine hours. The buses use either the ferry or the train and end their trip on the eastern edge of Paris at the Galleini International Bus Terminal in an area called Bagnolet.
You likely arrive at night unless you book an early morning bus trip so what do you do about a hotel.

Ibis Hotel

From the Gallieni International Bus Station in Paris it is a short walk to the Ibis Porte de Bagnolet Hotel.   I had booked the hotel on the advice of an English acquaintance but had my doubts after looking into an Ibis hotel near St Pancras in London last October. Nonetheless I went ahead and booked one night, trusting my British friend's advice.  I left London by National Express at noon and came into Paris at about nine pm
The Victoria Coach station is a block from the Victoria Train
Station  on Buckingham Palace Road in London.

(one hour time difference) and although it was dark I was able to walk the one block or so to the Ibis Porte de Bagnolet Hotel with no problem. The hotel check-in went smoothly enough after a moderate wait on a busy night for the hotel desk.

The Victoria Coach Station is one block from the Victoria
Train Station.

The elevator got me to my eighth floor room and I was surprised to find a newly refurbished room with flat panel TV, brand new furniture, modern bathroom/shower, and a good WiFi signal. (the first 24 hours free)
The Bagnolet Ibis appears to have undergone recent renovation that is still ongoing in a few areas but of no inconvenience to guests. The place was spotless, modern, and that night, the hotel of choice for British travelers who had arrived by bus and auto.

Ibis Hotel Amenities

The hotel offers a small bar on the ground floor reception area, well attended by the arriving Brits, and a restaurant on the first floor reception area.
Breakfast was offered at an additional cost but I declined because I was heading for the Pere Lachase Cemetery in the morning.
This hotel is a good overall value and handy to the Gallieni International Bus Terminal and to the Metro, the last stop on Line-3, two stops east of Pere Lachase Cemetery.

The Ibis de Bagnolet is three stop from the Pere Lachase
Cemetery where you find the tomb of Corot

The area is called Bagnolet, a blue collar neighborhood that offers a huge grocery market and several food shops in the mall near the bus/metro station. Several guest were using the hotel as a weekend base; Gallieni Metro station is just ten stops from the area of the Louvre and Pompedeau Center and that puts it about 20 minutes by Metro from the center of Paris.

I was B&Bing it for two weeks in the center of Paris so I stayed only one night but can certainly recommend the Ibis Porte de Bagnolet Hotel for budget travelers busing in from London for the weekend.
